Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) miners are specialized hardware that is built specifically to execute a single specific algorithm extremely quickly and extremely efficiently. The advantage here is that this hardware executes the algorithm at bare-metal speeds, typically faster than any CPU or GPU can perform.
